Ancient Kātyāyana SanskritThe Measure of Interest
The principal lent by creditors should always be receivable as double. If one does not receive double, one may calculate interest again. // K_509 //
For gems, pearls, corals, gold, and silver, the interest stops at double; likewise for cotton, silk, and wool. // K_510 //
For all oils, liquors, and ghee, the interest is known to be eight-fold, as also for molasses and salt. // K_511 //
