    Chahiye achhon ko jitna chahiye

    Mirza Ghalib

The beautiful deserve all the desire they inspire; If they desire you back, what more could one require?

From the company of mystics, caution is required, Yet to the house of wine, one's soul must be inspired.

What did my heart once think your love for me implied? From love itself, a lesson is now what’s required.

Don't tear your robes when the season of roses is not here; A sign from that direction is what is required.

Your coldness is a veil for what is truly there; To hide your face from me is not what is required.

My enmity has made my rival disappear; How great a foe she is, is what must be admired.

In my own public shame, what effort can I bear? The lover must herself become the commotion's fire.

For one whose only hope is anchored in his death, The depth of his despair is what must be admired.

For those whose beauty holds a lunar, silver shine, The one who loves them must himself be just as fine.

You long for perfect beauties, you do, Asad; But first, your own reflection is what must be admired.
