He shall not perform rites for the gods and ancestors with water collected at night. // Vi_66.1 //
He shall not offer any ointment except for sandalwood, musk, agarwood, camphor, saffron, and nutmeg. // Vi_66.2 //
Not a garment dyed with indigo. // Vi_66.3 //
Not an ornament that is an imitation of a gem or gold. // Vi_66.4 //
Not a flower with a strong smell. // Vi_66.5 //
Not one without a smell. // Vi_66.6 //
Not one from a thorny plant. // Vi_66.7 //
But he may offer a white and fragrant flower even from a thorny plant. // Vi_66.8 //
He may also offer a red flower, if it is saffron or a water-lily. // Vi_66.9 //
For incense, not anything produced from a living creature. // Vi_66.10 //
For a lamp, not anything except clarified butter and oil. // Vi_66.11 //
For a food offering, not what is forbidden to be eaten. // Vi_66.12 //
And even among edible things, not the milk of a goat or a she-buffalo. // Vi_66.13 //
And the meat of five-toed animals, fish, and boars. // Vi_66.14 //
Being restrained and pure, he shall offer everything; / With a concentrated and pleasant mind, free from haste and anger. || Vi_66.16 ||
