Ancient Viṣṇu SanskritVishnu Smriti 4
A speck of dust seen in a sunbeam passing through a lattice is called a trasareṇu. // Vi_4.1 //
Eight of these are a likṣā. // Vi_4.2 //
Three of these are a rājasarṣapa. // Vi_4.3 //
Three of these are a gaurasarṣapa. // Vi_4.4 //
Six of these are a yava (barley-corn). // Vi_4.5 //
Three of these are a kṛṣṇala. // Vi_4.6 //
Five of these are a māṣa. // Vi_4.7 //
Twelve of these are half an akṣa. // Vi_4.8 //
Half an akṣa plus four māṣas is a suvarṇa. // Vi_4.9 //
Four suvarṇas are a niṣka. // Vi_4.10 //
Two kṛṣṇalas of equal weight are a silver māṣaka. // Vi_4.11 //
Sixteen of these are a dharaṇam. // Vi_4.12 //
A copper coin weighing one karṣa is a kārṣāpaṇa. // Vi_4.13 //
Two hundred and fifty paṇas is known as the first amercement (sāhasa); The middle is known to be five hundred; and one thousand is the highest. || Vi_4.14 ||
