Ancient Kātyāyana SanskritThe Definition and Characteristics of Guilds and Other Groups
A group of various city-dwellers is declared to be a naigama; a band of men bearing various weapons is declared to be a vrāta. // K_678 //

A group of Brahmins is declared to be a gaṇa; those who live by a craft are declared to be śilpins. // K_680 //
