Purification is declared by those who know the truth of the scriptures to be a remedy. It is held to be of two kinds: by penance and by punishment. // K_472 //
Even in a suit with multiple claims, whatever amount the creditor establishes with witnesses, that much of the established wealth he shall obtain. // K_473 //
He who, having denied everything, then privately admits even a little of the accusation, shall be made to pay the entire amount, says Bṛhaspati. // K_474 //
Thus, the determination of cases should be seen by one sitting on the seat of justice, being impartial to the litigants, together with Brahmins, and not otherwise. // K_475 //
The king, having seen the legal proceedings himself or having heard them from the Chief Judge, should then give a document of victory for the purpose of final knowledge. // K_476 //
