Are the stars sorrowful in the night? Are they not your companions!
This lofty, silent sky so deep, The slumbering earth, the world asleep.
This moon, the desert, vale, and mountain-bar, All Nature is a wild rose garden, near and far.
These lovely pearls, so bright they are, Are but your tears, become a star.
What is this longing you cannot remit, O heart! For Nature is your kindred spirit, O heart!
