    Vishnu Smriti 53

    Now, for illicit intercourse, wearing a garment of bark in the forest for a year, he shall perform the prājāpatya penance according to the rule of the mahāvrata. // Vi_53.1 //

    And for intercourse with another's wife. // Vi_53.2 //

    And for intercourse with a cow, the govrata. // Vi_53.3 //

    For intercourse with a man, in an unnatural orifice, in the sky, in water, during the day, or in a cow-cart, he shall perform a bath with his clothes on. // Vi_53.4 //

    For intercourse with a Caṇḍāla woman, he attains her state. // Vi_53.5 //

    If done unknowingly, he shall perform two cāndrāyaṇa penances. // Vi_53.6 //

    And for intercourse with a beast or a prostitute, the prājāpatya penance. // Vi_53.7 //

    And a woman who has sinned once shall perform that same vow which is prescribed for a man for intercourse with another's wife. // Vi_53.8 //

    The sin which a twice-born man commits in one night by intercourse with a vṛṣalī, / He removes in three years by subsisting on alms and constantly muttering prayers. || Vi_53.9 ||
