Chapter 33
Ancient Viṣṇu SanskritVishnu Smriti 33
Now, a man has a threefold enemy, which is most terrible, called lust, anger, and greed. // Vi_33.1 //
Especially for a householder, due to his attachment to possessions. // Vi_33.2 //
Overcome by this, he engages in heinous sins, great sins, sins equivalent to great sins, and minor sins. // Vi_33.3 //
In sins causing loss of caste, in sins causing caste mixture, and in sins making one unworthy of receiving gifts. // Vi_33.4 //
In defiling acts and in miscellaneous sins. // Vi_33.5 //
This threefold gate of hell is the destruction of the self: / Lust, anger, and greed; therefore, one should abandon this triad. || Vi_33.6 ||
